Provincial and national technical agencies toured the Project area as part of the environmental evaluation process, holding on-site discussions about infrastructure, energy, and water resources.
As part of the technical evaluation of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the PSJ Cobre Mendocino project, representatives from provincial and national technical agencies visited the site in Uspallata. The visit was coordinated by the Mining Environmental Authority of Mendoza’s Ministry of Energy and Environment and took place within the framework of the interdisciplinary analyses led by the Interdisciplinary Environmental Mining Evaluation Commission (CEIAM). On this occasion, technical teams from the Directorate of Hydraulics, the Provincial Road Authority, National Highways, the Directorate of Energy Transition, and the Provincial Electricity Regulatory Agency (EPRE), among others, participated.
During the visit, representatives of the different agencies held technical exchanges with the Project’s geologists and with representatives of the consulting firm responsible for the Environmental Impact Report.
Throughout the tour, key aspects were addressed and clarified, including road infrastructure conditions and site connectivity, water availability and measures planned for responsible use, as well as energy demand projections and alternatives in line with the energy transition.
PSJ Cobre Mendocino expressed its strong appreciation for the opportunity to engage with state technical agencies, provide firsthand information, and continue building a serious, rigorous, and participatory environmental evaluation process in accordance with current regulations.
This visit adds to other actions carried out within the framework of the Environmental Impact Assessment, such as the participation of more than 130 citizens in open site tours and the periodic meetings of CEIAM with universities, NGOs, municipalities, and other institutional actors.
PSJ Cobre Mendocino reaffirms its commitment to transparency, sustainable development, and the responsible use of strategic resources for the energy transition, while respecting the environment and strengthening ties with the community of Uspallata.
