The meeting allowed for a detailed explanation of the technical, social, and environmental aspects of the mining project, which aims to position Mendoza as a leader in copper production in Argentina.
As part of its commitment to transparency, sustainable development, and public-private collaboration, PSJ Cobre Mendocino formally presented its proposal to Impulsa Mendoza, highlighting its investment plan, social and economic benefits, and alignment with energy transition goals.
During the presentation, the main aspects of the Project were outlined, including the adaptation of its Environmental Impact Report (EIR) in compliance with current provincial and national legislation, as well as its alignment with the highest international standards in responsible mining. The company emphasized its focus on clean technologies, the use of biodegradable reagents, and an open-door operation model with strong community participation.
The PSJ team underlined the strategic role of copper in the global energy transition and the possibility for Mendoza to become the first copper-producing province in the country.
The Project, representing an estimated investment of USD 559 million, is located at Estancia Yalguaraz in the Uspallata district. It will exclusively use water from the El Tigre stream in a closed and controlled circuit, ensuring no impact on regional water resources and full compliance with Law 7722.
