The company presented the main guidelines of the PSJ Cobre Mendocino project to the Mendoza Chamber of Mining Entrepreneurs (CaMEM) and the Mendoza Association of Metallurgical Industrialists (ASINMET), reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development, job creation, and the strengthening of local suppliers.
As part of its commitment to responsible and transparent mining development, PSJ Cobre Mendocino presented its project to authorities and members of CaMEM and ASINMET in a meeting held at ASINMET’s headquarters. The objective was to share the main technical, environmental, and economic aspects of the mining project planned for the Uspallata district, Las Heras.
During the meeting, details were provided on the adaptation of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to the latest international standards, as well as the technological advances incorporated into production processes, enabling a more efficient, safer operation aligned with global energy transition goals.
Other key issues addressed included the responsible use of water, compliance with Provincial Law 7722, the generation of direct and indirect jobs during construction and operation stages, and the strengthening of the regional value chain through the hiring of local suppliers, particularly in the metallurgical, logistics, and service sectors.
PSJ Cobre Mendocino President, Fabián Gregorio, thanked the institutions for the opportunity and called for the active participation of the local business network: “We invite all sectors to take part in this process. This project aims not only to develop mining responsibly, but also to generate real opportunities for Mendoza’s companies and professionals.”
CaMEM and ASINMET expressed strong interest in the opportunities PSJ represents for Mendoza’s industrial ecosystem, particularly due to its potential to boost metallurgical services, equipment maintenance, transport, engineering, construction, and skilled employment.
ASINMET President, Fabián Solís, highlighted the strategic role of the local industry in the face of mining growth in the Province: “We support the metallurgical industry in developing human resources, transferring technology, and helping companies modernize and digitalize. Our goal is to ensure they have the capabilities to support the major projects advancing in Mendoza.”
In the same vein, CaMEM President, Guillermo Pensado, stressed the importance of building mining with a provincial identity: “When we talk about sustainable mining, we mean adding value not only to our geology but also to our companies and professionals. With PSJ, we hope to start driving, learning, and building the path toward mining that supports Mendoza’s socio-economic development.”
PSJ Cobre Mendocino will continue with its institutional and community engagement plan, providing information and fostering dialogue with all stakeholders involved.
