With a focus on road safety and strengthening local skills, PSJ carried out a new training initiative in Uspallata, aimed at responsible driving and the proper use of off-road vehicles.

As part of its community training program, PSJ Cobre Mendocino delivered a new course on Defensive Driving and 4×4 Vehicle Operation, designed for residents of Uspallata.

The theoretical session gathered 19 participants, who received specialized instruction on safe driving techniques, accident prevention, and maneuvers in mountain environments and rural roads. The practical component will take place next week, including driving exercises with four-wheel-drive vehicles in the field.

During the theoretical session, key concepts of preventive driving were addressed, focusing on risk anticipation, responsible decision-making at the wheel, and common human factors contributing to traffic accidents.

“Driving in high mountain and non-urban areas requires specific knowledge. This training provides tools that can make a real difference both in work contexts and in daily life, strengthening autonomy and safety for those who travel in the region,” stated the Project’s community relations team.

This training reflects PSJ’s commitment to building local capacities and promoting territorial development through concrete training opportunities in collaboration with technical institutions and specialized instructors.

The activity is part of PSJ’s Community Outreach Plan, which promotes the inclusion of Uspallata residents in initiatives that encourage productive integration and active participation in local development processes.
