These are the submissions received by the Environmental Mining Authority via email, which will be incorporated into the file along with the testimonies from the Public Hearing. There were more than 9,000 written citizen expressions, with a total of 6,378 in favor of the project.

The Environmental Mining Authority of the Province of Mendoza released the results of submissions received via email, through which citizens could send their opinions during the five business days following the Public Hearing, as established in the Joint Resolution initiating the Mining Environmental Impact Assessment process (Resolution 51/25 from the Mining Directorate and Resolution 10/25 from the Directorate of Environmental Management and Oversight).

In total, more than 9,000 citizen expressions were recorded: 6,378 in favor and 3,056 against. Among the latter are included the notarial record presented by the Water Assembly, which gathered 1,592 statements on August 2, as well as 856 emails initially sent to the address enabled by the Assembly and later forwarded to the official address. Thus, more than 67% of the submissions were in favor of the project’s development.

This process further strengthens citizen participation in the evaluation stage of the project, which also included a Public Hearing with a record level of attendance in the province of Mendoza.

The final balance of this participatory evaluation stage reflects a plural, transparent, and representative process in which, through various means and methodologies of participation, technical, social, and environmental arguments were heard within a democratic and inclusive framework.

PSJ Cobre Mendocino reaffirms its commitment to active listening, respect for diverse opinions, and the strengthening of relationships with communities through concrete actions for local development, sustainability, and transparency.
