The hearing is now being conducted through oral presentations via videoconference, ensuring the participation of citizens from across the province and the country, without geographical limitations.
This Friday at 9 a.m., the virtual stage of the Public Hearing convened by the Government of Mendoza for the evaluation of the PSJ Cobre Mendocino Project officially began. The session is carried out through oral presentations by videoconference, thereby guaranteeing the participation of citizens from all over the province and the country, without geographic restrictions.
The Public Hearing is a formal procedure established in provincial environmental legislation, allowing the community to express its opinions and contributions regarding the proposed mining project in Uspallata. Its development, both in-person and virtual, ensures a democratic, transparent process with full access to all available technical information.
The virtual stage follows six in-person sessions held at Estancia Yalguaraz, which saw broad attendance in an atmosphere of respect and commitment. During that stage, 70% of the speakers expressed their support for the development of the Project.
The virtual format expands the reach and accessibility of the Hearing, allowing more citizens to exercise their right to participate regardless of physical location. In this way, the process continues to consolidate itself as a plural and participatory space, where each intervention is recorded and considered within the environmental evaluation file.
PSJ Cobre Mendocino reaffirms its commitment to active listening, respectful dialogue, and the integration of community input as part of a project that seeks to drive Mendoza’s economic, social, and environmentally responsible development.
