The public consultation for PSJ Cobre Mendocino has been officially launched as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment process.

The Mining Directorate and the Environmental Protection Directorate have made available the Environmental Impact Report (EIR), specific analyses, and opinions from various agencies.

This stage seeks to ensure transparency and citizen participation, allowing the community to access documentation both online and in person at the Mining Directorate, where digital copies can be requested and expert guidance is provided.

As part of the procedure, an Interdisciplinary Environmental Mining Evaluation Commission will be formed, made up of institutions such as UNCuyo, UTN, Conicet Mendoza, the Mining Directorate, the General Department of Irrigation, and the Municipality of Las Heras, among others. This commission will review the EIR and prepare a Single Final Report, which will include observations and technical opinions before submission to the Mining Environmental Authority.

The Project foresees exploitation through mechanical reduction with conventional flotation, a methodology aligned with current legislation. In addition, several institutions and business chambers have organized workshops and training sessions to disseminate information about the project and its implications for the community.

This process marks a new step in the mining development of Mendoza, consolidating PSJ Cobre Mendocino as a key player in Argentina’s copper production.
